Capsule Wardrobe: What, When, and Why in the World?!Payton Foeller
Basically, it’s stripping your closet down to the most basic of basic. I’ve seen recommendations that suggest trimming down to 30-40 items all in a similar color palate and theme to make matching outfits easier. There are several suggestions on what to keep and why. Just google it and there are tons of pictures and blog posts that will help you if you want to try it! I’ve seen in several posts that they create their wardrobe for the season then don’t allow themselves to shop until it’s time to find the next season’s picks! No shopping for three months!?
-Less time putting together outfits each morning
-Donate old unused items
-Free up closet/dresser space
-Less laundry to pile up
(… I’m having trouble coming up with cons …)
-Possibly less chance for creativity in outfits
-hard to let go of some clothing
– … I don’t know!
Okay.. obviously I’m having trouble seeing a downside other than not wanting to get rid of items. If this causes you to run in fear but you still think you want to give it a try, consider just storing items you think you can’t live without. You can rotate them back into the next season or you may find you didn’t miss them and now you can donate them!
The more I write this post the more convinced I am that I need to try this! Yikes!
Have any suggestions for me?! I’m off to clean out my closet!
Maybe next week I’ll share what inspiration I find to make my selections and what I narrow it down to! Check back!
Let me know if you have any tips! Please, please!
