How Quitting Caffeine Could Save Your Quality of LifePayton Foeller
I spent many many days in doctors offices trying to get some answers about some extremely debilitating headaches I was having. I have a pretty wide range of issues from sinus problems some mild anxiety troubles (in today’s world who doesn’t have anxiety). My doctors first guess was my birth control was causing these insane migraines. I wasn’t as convinced so to prove it, I went off of it. Still had headaches. Next, sinus pressure headaches. I had sinus surgery and shortly after I found out I was pregnant (probably from going off that birth control). She wasn’t an accident, of course, we’re adults, we know how babies are made, but we didn’t expect we would be blessed so quickly!
The surgery worked right?
Hormones are amazing things. Or maybe I was just distracted by the bulging belly and swollen ankles so I didn’t notice. Just barely three weeks after having our beautiful baby, the headaches returned. The solution this time, allergy shots. Maybe controlling my allergies would tame the sinus headaches. No such luck. Next try, migraine treatment. I started taking some medicine for migraines which did seem to lessen the headaches but not eliminate them. Then I discovered that an asthma medicine I had been taking had a side effect of guess what? Headaches! Ahh! Aren’t your doctors suppose to notice these things! I’ve been on this for a few years and had headaches for a few years. I promptly stopped the medication and the migraines lessened even more.Still, most days of the week I had this dull gnawing headache that started in the late afternoon. And on days when a bad migraine came around, this gnawing afternoon thing seemed to drive it home and knock me out for the rest of the day.
Now I’m about three months into the no caffeine life and I think I’m sticking with it. The few times I forget to order caffeine free or decided to risk it I have really regretted it! I’m awake all night for a day or two and that headache creeps back in around 4 p.m!
What one thing would you miss the most if you ditched the caffeine?
