A Natural Solution for Sinus Problems You’ve Never Heard of.Payton Foeller
And I hadn’t heard of either until about a month ago and I’m breathing better than EVER.
Favorite Things Friday is in full swing!
I have had terrible allergies all my life. This lead to or exacerbated other things like asthma, sinus headaches, congestion, etc. I started seeing an ENT who then did sinus surgery to clean out some deep congestion – this was supposed to be a super cure.Around the same time, I became pregnant. The pregnancy seemed to cure my sinuses and the headaches with its magic hormones because within a month of giving birth they all flooded back.I then started on allergy shots in hopes to minimize those symptoms which in turn was supposed to decrease my congestion and headaches. These can take years to show improvements; after about a year I could tell it was much better but I still suffered from really bad and constant congestion and sinus pressure headaches. I was nearly always taking an antibiotic for a sinus infection.
Apparently, I am prone to staph infections and don’t naturally fight them like I should. About 5 out of 6 infections over the last two years were staph alone. 6 out of 6 contained the staph bacteria. I love staph and staph loves me.
This past, most recent round of augmentin I was getting desperate. I took it but I knew it wasn’t going to do a thing. I’d get maybe a week of relief – if that. I started googling chronic staph infections, resistant staph, antibiotic resistant staph, can’t get rid of staph infection, chronic staph sinus infection, and anything I could think of that might bring some answers.
I came across a random article that talked about the ingredient Xylitol. It said that it had been known to cure antibiotic resistant staph. I dug around a bit more and noticed there were several ways to utilize this to help with my sinuses. You can get it raw and make your own sinus rinses but there is a brand that makes a nasal spray with it! It was cheap enough and I hate doing the rinses. You have to boil your water, let it cool, then use it, or you risk more infection.
I ordered it immediately (thinking I doubt it, but what the heck, worth a shot) and started taking it about two or three days into starting the antibiotic. I used it twice, morning and night, for two days….
That’s all it took. I was walking around making people feel the air coming out of my nose… Both sides of my nose! BOTH! That is (hopefully was) a rare occurrence in my life!
It’s been about a month of breathing clear. I still have allergies but it doesn’t lead to my nose being completely blocked, which would lead to a headache, which would lead to a day or two on the couch. I have been able to cut my allergy medicine in half! I used the spray like it suggested, twice daily, at first. But now I only take one spray every few days! And it maintains the effects. Before I was taking two separate prescription nasal sprays twice daily and they had to be taken an hour apart from each other… 8 am, 9 am, 8 pm, 9 pm. Yea. And that was just the sprays, not the pills.
If you have anything sinus related that’s plaguing you this is definitely worth a try. You’ll thank me later. Just try it.
I went to my ENT for the follow up from that most recent round of antibiotics and I took it with me to tell them how excited I was about it. They had NEVER heard of it. I don’t get it. I had been going for about 3 years. For about the last year they basically just told me, well you’re a complicated case and there’s nothing else to try. Nothing? Really? Good thing I’m stubborn I guess.
If you try it you need to comment and let me know how it works for you! Everyone’s different so of course, it may do nothing. But what if it doesn’t!? What if it works like it does for me! Go try it!
